Simple Stencils are pre-pasted, pre-spaced, individually laser cut out letters that press on your wall or any flat smooth surface (glass, metal, smooth stone, plastic, etc.).
Once applied with our easy-to-follow instructions, the letters are the only thing remaining on the wall or surface. The letters are very thin, equivalent to about 3 coats of paint and have a beautiful matte or satin finish. The above properties give the letters the appearance of being painted on without all the mess, skill, creative limitations and time that hand painted stencils require.
These are not decals with a clear film around the letters, but rather individually cut out letters that have been pre-spaced for you.
Applying the Simple Stencils is as easy as removing the backing and pressing to the surface where you would like it. Please visit our Simple Stencil Instruction page for more details. Each order is custom made to your specifications and arrives with easy-to-follow illustrated instructions, installation tool and a free practice word which makes it Simple to add your own creative meaning and personality to your space!
Pre-spaced means that we cut the letters and send them to you with all the positioning and spacing of the letters and words for you. The lettering will arrive as you see it on our site, or as you have designed it in our design center.
Your order will arrive as a single decal which you will apply as one piece. (larger sized pieces may arrive in multiple sections with alignment markers for easier install).
While most customers enjoy the ease of installing the decal all as one piece, you do have the ability to cut the sheet holding your decal into as many pieces as you choose to make the quote/design into multiple lines, etc. This would allow you to install each cut apart section on the wall in your own creative pattern.
There is a grid on the backing paper that holds your decal which will allow you to cut straight lines, just be careful not to cut through decal material when cutting sheet apart. You can even cut each word / section apart to install them in your own creative layout to fit your style or space. The possibilities are limitless!
Some larger sized pieces may already arrive in multiple sections, with alignment markers, for easier install.
The lettering will arrive in three layers (the top application tape layer, the letters themselves and the stiff paper backing paper). You will simply peel away the backing, apply the top two layers to the surface and rub down with the application tool. Lastly you peel away the top application tape layer to leave only the beautiful pre-spaced letters on the wall. It's really that simple!

Simple Stencil decals are self-adhesive and will remain stuck to any smooth or semi-smooth surface for many years. This includes painted walls, glass, mirrors, smooth plastic, metal, tile, and smooth wood.
Simple Stencils will not stick well to materials such as untreated rough wood, raw cinderblock, brick or paper. (Cinderblock works well if the blocks have enough layers of paint which creates a smoothness. This is often the case in schools, hospitals, etc.)
Light to medium textured walls work great for Simple Stencils and the texture will show through the lettering so it still appears as if it is painted on. Highly textured wall surfaces (like sandpaper or deep stucco textures) do not work well with Simple Stencils. If you are in doubt about your surface, please request a working sample to test surface prior to placing an order.

Because all computer monitors display color a little bit differently, the colors that appear on your screen may or may not be an accurate representation of the actual Simple Stencil Color. If you have a specific color in mind that you are unsure of, please order a color sample.
If you have a specific color you are trying to match and you cannot find an acceptable match with our standard colors, please contact us with the color specifics and we will check our stock for a closer color match.
Many additional colors are offered in a premium material that is available only upon request however please keep in mind there is a considerable price and time increase when ordering custom colors.
Yes, and it's simple to do! Simple Stencils work well for renters and frequent decorators, because they can be removed from the surfaces, when you are ready, without damaging the underlying surfaces.
To remove, simply peel up a corner of each decal with your fingernail or tweezers and gently pull the decal away from the wall. If you have had them installed on the wall for a long period of time, or if you find they are difficult to remove, you can warm them up with a hairdryer first to make the job easier.
We can cut your logo, or any other creative graphics, into a Simple Stencil decal that you can use for advertising or display purposes. They work well on storefront windows, vehicles, sign blanks, as well as your walls.
If you have a logo / graphic in one of the following vectorized formats we can cut the file without any clean up charges. Just contact us with the graphic file along with any criteria about the size, colors, etc. that you would like the Simple Stencil decal be and we will contact you with your ordering options. (Please note the file types below would need to be vectorized and / or have the font embedded into the file for us to be able to cut it appropriately).

If you don't have the logo/graphic file in one of these formats, you can send us a picture file (.png, .jpeg, .tiff, etc.) in as good a quality as you have available and we will be able to trace and/or re-create the file in a format we can use. We will notify you if there will be any artwork charges before we begin work for very intricate designs.

We ship via USPS, UPS and FEDEX in a variety of methods including rush services and express mail if needed. Contact us for Rush Shipping Availability. You will be able to see your shipping cost at checkout which is based on your method of delivery and location. Most orders ship for $5-$10 and Orders over $75 ship free!
Orders are calculated at checkout for shipping cost, however we do everything we can to provide the best rates and services available to keep our shipping rates low.
** Please note, when your order ships, we will send a shipping confirmation email to the email address you give us during the check-out process. This email will contain important tracking information that will allow you to track your order online. If you don't receive this email by the estimated shipping date given in your order confirmation email, please check your spam folder before contacting us.
Your Simple Stencil order will ship out within 1-5 business days after you place your order when paying online via PayPal with a credit card, using a gift certificate or Purchase Order.
*If you pay with an e-check, or check/money order via mail, the order will ship out within 1-5 business days after the e-check or paper check has cleared your account which generally takes 2-5 days.
If you would like your order to arrive in time for a specific date or event, please contact us and we will do our best to expedite your order or send you options to help make this happen.
International Orders are subject to customs delays and duties which can involve up to 1-3 weeks in transit which is out of our control.
The Simple Stencil will only charge sales tax for merchandise ordered on this website that is shipping to a Florida address. No sales tax will be applied to any order shipped to a state outside of our home state of Florida. If you are tax-exempt and located in Florida, please contact us with your sales tax exemption form so we can remove tax from your order.
We make every attempt to check and double check each order for any manufacturing defects before the order is shipped however if your order arrives damaged or defective, please contact us or return the order to us for a full refund or replacement.
If you receive your order and have decided that you no longer want the item as ordered, it can be returned to us in new condition for refund of purchase price. Original shipping and return shipping costs will not be refunded. This does not apply to custom orders made using the design center, or if we are otherwise working from your own design. All return orders need to be sent back, in new condition, within 30 days for a full refund.
Due to the volume of sales, we cannot be responsible for any customer spelling errors on custom orders. Please double check your spelling prior to submitting order.
