Collection FAQs

Q: Can we see a free design mock-up of our school logo or hallway quote before placing an order?

Absolutely! We know that principals, PTOs, and school boards often need to approve visuals before spending district funds. The Simple Stencil offers free custom design consultations and digital mock-ups . Simply email your school logo (vector or high-res format), mascot, or specific hallway motto to support@thesimplestencil.com along with your wall dimensions and a picture of your wall (optional). Our design team will create a custom digital proof so you can visualize exactly how the graphic will look in your corridor before finalizing your purchase or submitting a Purchase Order.

Q: Can these decals be applied to unpainted brick, raw concrete, or heavily textured plaster?

No. The Simple Stencil decals require a clean, smooth, and non-porous surface to establish a secure bond. They will not adhere properly to raw, porous materials like unpainted brick, textured stucco, or heavily knocked-down plaster. If you are dealing with slightly textured drywall or painted concrete block, our vinyl will work beautifully, but raw or rough surfaces should be avoided.

Q: Can I peel the decals off and reuse or reposition them in a different room later?

No. While our premium decals are 100% cleanly removable without damaging your walls, they are designed for one-time use only . The process of peeling the intricate, die-cut vinyl lettering off the wall will stretch and distort the material, and the adhesive is engineered to release cleanly rather than stick a second time. We recommend being completely sure of your placement before applying the final design.

Question 3

Are your vinyl decals durable enough to withstand heavy student traffic and backpacks in school hallways?

Accepted Answer

Yes. School hallways are high-impact zones where walls are constantly brushed by backpacks, jackets, and passing crowds. Our premium, USA-made vinyl is engineered with a specialized water-based adhesive that holds a tight, secure bond to the wall without curling at the corners, when installed as directed.

Furthermore, our matte finish is highly advantageous for school corridors. Unlike cheap, glossy vinyl that reflects harsh fluorescent ceiling lights and shows every fingerprint, our matte finish absorbs light, minimizes scuffs, and looks exactly like a high-end, custom-painted mural from every angle.

Question 4

Can you use vinyl decals on classroom whiteboards or chalkboards?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Our premium matte vinyl applies completely flat to both dry-erase whiteboards and traditional chalkboards. It will not interfere with dry-erase markers or chalk, and it creates a permanent, clean look for classroom calendars, subject headers, or daily schedules. When it’s time to clean the board, you can wipe or spray right over the decal during your normal cleaning routine without damaging it.

Question 5

Will wall decals stick to painted cinder block walls in school hallways?

Accepted Answer

Yes, our professional-grade vinyl easily conforms to the light texture of painted concrete or cinder blocks, making them a favorite for school hallways, gymnasiums, and cafeterias.

⚠️ Installation Tip for Schools: School walls often accumulate invisible dust and floor wax residue over time. For the absolute best adhesion on cinder blocks, we recommend wiping the surface down with rubbing alcohol before applying your Simple Stencil.

Question 6

Are vinyl quotes safe to use on school bathroom doors and stall surfaces?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Adding "Growth Mindset" or anti-bullying quotes to the inside of bathroom stall doors and restroom mirrors is a massive trend in school decor. Our specialized water-based adhesive holds up beautifully against the high humidity and frequent, heavy cleaning schedules of school restrooms. You can use standard school-issued sanitizing wipes or mild soaps directly over the decals without worrying about the vinyl peeling or the colors fading.

Question 7

Can your decals be applied to school lockers and glass doors?

Accepted Answer

Yes, our die-cut lettering adheres flawlessly to smooth, non-porous surfaces like metal lockers, classroom doors, trash bins, glass entrance vestibules, and mirrors. Because our vinyl is professionally die-cut with zero clear plastic background, applying a school mascot or motivational quote to a locker room or glass partition gives a high-end, etched or custom-painted look.

Question 8

Are your vinyl decals weatherproof, and can they be used outdoors?

Accepted Answer

Yes, our premium vinyl decals are completely weatherproof and water-resistant. Because we use high-quality, professional-grade materials, they are designed to handle the elements beautifully.

How long they last depends entirely on whether they are placed indoors or outdoors:

Outdoor Performance (5–7 Years): When applied to outdoor surfaces—such as exterior school entry doors, outdoor signage, or windows—our decals will withstand rain, snow, and cleaning. If they are constantly exposed to direct sunlight and harsh daily weather, they may eventually need to be replaced after 5 to 7 years due to natural UV weathering.
Indoor Performance (Indefinite): When used inside your home, school, or church, our decals are protected from the elements and will last indefinitely until you choose to remove them. They will not fade, crack, or peel over time on indoor walls.

☀️ Pro-Tip for Outdoor Installation: For the absolute longest lifespan outdoors, try to apply the decals to surfaces that receive partial shade or are protected by an awning. Always ensure the outdoor surface is completely clean and 100% dry before applying the decal to lock in the secure, long-term bond. We do offer an upgraded exterior vinyl option on a custom basis if you feel you will need the decal to withstand harsh conditions. Contact us for details.
